Moving to a Virtual Convention

Dear DeMolays, Sisters, Families, Advisors and Friends:

During COVID19, New York DeMolay has been cautious in our approach to events, activities and other issues. Our decisions are guided by the advice of public health officials, scientists, and civil authorities. The guiding force of every decision made for DeMolay is what is best for the well-being, and safety of our members.

It is with a heavy heart that I am informing you that there will not be an in-person convention this year. This decision was not arrived at lightly, but after consulting with health officials, looking at the projections, and reviewing DOH and CDC guidelines it is the safe and responsible decision. If you have questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me.

I applaud our convention planning committee for putting together an exceptional convention plan filled with fun, new ideas, and brotherhood.  I am incredibly grateful to the amazing trustees of the Masonic Hall and Home and appreciative to “Mom” Mollie Denslow, and “Mom” Allie Glassman for all of their help at Camp Turk.

I will be meeting with the State Executive Committee to determine next steps for a virtual business meeting and installation of State Officers.  Many of you expressed that you would prefer not to be tied down to a computer in the middle of a warm sunny Saturday in August. That is very helpful feedback, and we are taking that under advisement as we plan. We will get that out to you as soon as possible.

Our 7th Preceptor talks about the importance of good citizenship. As our nation and state call on us to follow social distancing, wear masks, and follow guidelines we can each manifest the virtue.

God Bless you and your families, God Bless DeMolay, and God Bless America!

Your brother,

“Dad” Brusoe
