New York DeMolay is saddened to learn of the loss of “Mom” Wharmby, the Most Worthy Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
“Mom” Wharmby passed away on Saturday May 22, 2020. Knowing her was a true joy for all of us. She was a kind and caring soul, who personified the ideals and virtues of the Order of the Eastern Star. She brought joy and happiness when she walked into a room.
All DeMolay Chapters in the State of New York are asked to take a moment of silence at their next regular meeting in her honor. While we know only one advisor should speak at a chapter meeting, it would be appropriate for a person who knew her to share some brief thoughts and why she was such a good and great person.
We ask our brothers, our sisters, our advisors and friends to remember “Mom” Wharmby in your prayers and to think a good thought for "Dad" Wharmby and the Wharmby family. Those desiring to send a card may do so by mailing it to: 358 Aldrich Rd, Fairport, NY 14450.
We are pasting the notice below from the Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
“It is with a broken heart that I must share that our wonderful M.W. Grand Matron; L. Katherine Wharmby passed this morning at 7:30 AM to cross to over to our Father in Heaven. She has struggled a horrible battle and kept her faith always. We must do the same and believe that she is in God's hands and at peace at last.
The funeral arrangements will be private in keeping with the current conditions in the world.
If any other information comes forward, I will share it with you all. Please keep R.W. Robert and their family in your prayers and cards can be sent to 358 Aldrich Rd, Fairport, NY 14450.
I would also ask that you keep the Grand Patron and all of the 2020 Grand Officers in your prayers. We have navigated a most difficult year and we have held together. We need each other more now than ever.
Beyond the Sunset there is a peace
That comes when our day is done
God grants us this serenity
When our earthly battle is won
Take comfort in this knowledge
That our loved one has gone on
To that peaceful valley
beyond the sunset
Where they dwellest now with God
Rest in Peace Grand Matron”
