Postponement of Grand Master's Class

Dear DeMolays, Advisors, and Families:

Our number one priority in DeMolay is the safety and protection of our members, adult volunteers, parents, and guests.  We have been closely monitoring the situation across New York and the country in deciding which events to have and which events not to have.

A few hours ago, our Governor Andrew Cuomo has asked that any event with an attendance of over 500 be postponed. (See: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-12/n-y-gov-cuomo-no-gatherings-of-more-than-500-people ) .

We had the Grand Lodge Room reserved since we received over 500 RSVP’s both domestic and International for the Grand Master’s Class and Hall of Fame Induction but need to postpone these two events. Thought was being given to this action prior to Governor Cuomo’s Guidelines and recommendations from New York City health officials. When we are able to reschedule, we will share the information with you.

I spoke with Grand Master Sardone about this decision and we have his full support. Other Grand Lodge events will be postponed with notification coming out next week.  I always appreciate his willingness to put the interests and concerns of active DeMolays first and foremost. DeMolay has no better partner than our Grand Master and the Grand Lodge of New York.

I have had several questions about other DeMolay events and activities across the state.  Local advisory councils, alumni groups, Chevalier Courts, and Legion of Honor preceptories should be using their best judgement. Parents and DeMolays also need to make the best decision for themselves.

If you have questions or need guidance please reach out to your District Deputy or me.

Yours for a stronger, and healthy, New York DeMolay,

“Dad” Brusoe
Personal Representative of the Grand Master
