March 9, 2020: A Note from "Dad" Brusoe
Dear Brothers, "Moms," "Dads" and Parents:

The protection and safety of our members and volunteers is our number one priority. With COVID19 we wanted to address a few concerns and do some reminders:

1. We are monitoring the situation with our Grand Lodge. I am very grateful for the expertise of Dr. Oscar Alleyne and the level of knowledge that he brings to the table. As we have updates we will be sharing them via email and via facebook.

2. Improved communication: We are launching a google group to help communicate information. One is NYDeMolay@googlegroups.com. this is for all Active DeMolays, Parents of Active DeMolays and registered adult volunteers in New York.
There are two ways to Subscribe:
A) Visiting the site:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/nydemolay
B)  NYDeMolay+subscribe@googlegroups.com

3. Local advisory councils should monitor the situation in their community. What is happening in Saratoga Springs is different from what is happening in Tonawanda, which is different from what is happening in Utica or Rochester.  If events need to be canceled please let the program participants along with myself and the district deputy know. Following the guidance from your local school district is a good practice.

4. No one wants to miss an event because they are sick, however, if you are not feeling well please do not attend the event or activity. This is the third preceptor in action. It is courteous not to show up when you are sick.

5. The sixth preceptor is critically important. There are studies out there that handwashing varies greatly by gender and that for both genders it is way too low. In general:

6. Food is one of the four Fs of DeMolay (Food, Fun, Fellowship, Friends). Please remember to use good food handling procedures. If you're going to have chips in a bowl have a serving piece. If you're going to have pizza please have the pizza put on plates ideally by someone who is wearing food service gloves. .

Thank you for all that you do for DeMolay!
